Anxiety, a common mental health issue around the world!
As an expert in Therapeutic Counselling and Integral Life Coaching, I want to address a topic that affects many individuals: anxiety. Anxiety disorders are among the most common mental health issues worldwide, impacting people of all ages and backgrounds.
Anxiety disorders involve more than temporary worry or fear. For a person with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time, affecting daily activities, job performance, school, and relationships.
Statistics show the widespread impact of anxiety:
- In Canada, it’s estimated that 3 million people (11.6% of the population) have anxiety disorders in any given year.
- In Mexico, anxiety disorders affect approximately 14.3% of the population.
- In the United States, anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness, affecting 40 million adults aged 18 and older (18.1% of the population) every year.
Identifying anxiety can be the first step toward managing it. Common symptoms include excessive worry, restlessness, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, irritability, muscle tension, and sleep disturbances.
If you or someone you know is struggling with anxiety, know that effective treatments are available. Counselling and coaching can be valuable tools in managing anxiety. Through our sessions, we can work together to develop coping strategies, challenge negative thought patterns, and build resilience.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or if you’d like to explore how counselling or coaching can support you in managing anxiety.
